North Beacon Hill
Walk through the center of Seattle's historic Beacon Hill with stunning overlooks and great views in all directions.
on the trail
Trace the last section of the 1800's "Military Road" that connected Vancouver (WA), Olympia, Steilacoom and Seattle, and learn how Beacon Hill became geographically isolated from downtown Seattle in the early 1900's with the Dearborn Street Regrade. While the views west towards over industrial Seattle are stunning, a clear day brings Puget Sound and the Olympics out of the clouds. Dr. Jose Rizal Park offers a window into Seattle's Filipino History and El Centro de la Raza brings into focus local Hispanic history and culture at the site of the old Beacon Hill School. Start and finish this urban walk in the shadow of the PacMed Art Deco tower, the former U.S. Marine Hospital.
