Pack Forest
Hike all-season through varied vegetation in the University of Washington's Charles L. Pack Experimental Forest. Trips range from 0.5 to 10+ miles and very little to 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Enjoy views of Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and the Ohop Valley on a clear day. Horses and mountain bikes may use some of the trails and roads. Motorcycles and vehicles can use the main gravel roads.
getting there
The entrance and gatehouse of the Charles L. Pack Experimental Forest in on SR-7 just east of the intersection with SR-161, south of Eatonville. There are three parking lots near the entrance that server the forest's network of trails and roads.
on the trail
There is a network of roads and trails that allow for many out-and-back and loop trip options with varying difficulties. Choose your own adventure and enjoy the varied vegetation throughout the forest and views of Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and the Ohop Valley from a handful of vistas on a clear day.
