Palisades Lakes
A moderate round trip day hike of up to 8 miles and 2,100 feet of elevation gain in Mount Rainier National Park. The trail goes up and down ridges, through stands of trees and past many alpine lakes, including Hidden Lake, a great destination on its own. From Upper Palisades Lake, consider taking the boot path to the top of Brown Peak.

From SR-410 in Mount Rainier National Park, take the Sunrise Road to the Palisades Lake Trailhead (aka Sunrise Point) at third switchback on the road (6,100 ft).

Hidden Lake (5,915 ft)
6.5 miles round trip with 1,600 feet of elevation gain
Hike the Palisades Lakes Trail north, passing Sunrise Lake and then Clover Lake. At 2.9 miles from the trailhead, take the left fork to head up to Hidden Lake. It's between the first and second of the three lakes known as Tom, Dick and Harry Lakes.
Palisades lakes (6,150 ft)
7.5 miles round trip with 1,700 feet of elevation gain
Hike a high meadow in the northeast corner of Mount Rainier National Park to Upper Palisades Lake (6,190 ft), passing Sunrise, Clover, Tom, Dick and Harry Lakes on the way.
brown peak (6,322 ft)
8.0 miles round trip with 2,100 feet of elevation gain
Just before Upper Palisades Lake take the easy-to-follow boot path east to the top of Brown Peak. It's an added 0.5 mile round trip and 500 feet of elevation gain.
Clover Lake (5,700 ft)
3.0 Miles Round Trip with 500 feet of elevation gain
It's the second lake, 1.5 miles from the trailhead and 1.0 mile from the first, Surprise Lake.
