Pipe Creek Trail
A moderate snowshoe or cross-country ski trip in the Blewett Pass area with low avalanche risk exposure. This route is primarily in the forest; however, on a clear day Diamond Head is visible from the top of the loop.
Getting there
Park at the Pipe Creek Sno-Park, located 29 miles east of Cle Elum on Hwy 97. Sno-park pass is required.
On the trail
The Pipe Creek Trail leaves from SW corner of the spacious Pipe Creek Sno-Park and follows FR 9700-140 to reach Diamond View loop in about 2 miles and 900' elevation gain. The route is primarily in the forest; however, on a clear day Diamond Head is visible from the top of the loop.
The adjacent network of FS roads allows for adding distance, but navigation skills are required. For longer trips, the greater Blewett, Tronsen Meadow, Swauk Meadow, and Swauk Campground trail systems can also be accessed from this Sno-Park. This includes 57 miles of marked un-groomed cross-country ski/snowshoe trails, although trail markings can sometimes be hard to spot.
