Roughhouse Mountain
A moderate winter scramble to the peak about 0.75 mile southeast of Old Blewett Pass. It's 8.0 miles round trip and 2,800 feet of elevation gain.
getting there
Drive to the parking area at the intersection of the Old Blewett Pass Road and SR 97, about a half mile west of the Swauk Campground and Sno-Park.
approach & ascent
While one could simply follow the Old Blewett Pass Road north to the the pass and then southeast to Roughhpouse Mountain, it is more interesting to ascend directly to Point 4657 from the (usually plowed) beginning of Old Blewett Pass Road. From Point 4675, descend the ridge northwest to Old Blewett Pass, follow the road the the northwest, take the first intersection to the right, then the next intersection to the left. Leave the road where at 4,600 ft and ascend north to the summit.
A loop return trip can be made by returning to Old Blewett Pass, retracing the ascent route for roughly a hundred yards, dropping down into the drainage to the east of the Old Blewett Pass Road, and following it back to the Sno-Park.
