Suggested backpack itinerary

• Day 1: Hike from Sol Duc to Appleton Pass/Oyster Lake.
• Day 2: Hike to Seven Lakes Basin via Spread Eagle Pass, Swimming Bare Lake and then over past Heart Lake.
• Day 3: Hike out via High Divide, Potholes Meadows, and Deer Lake.

This shorter option is perfect for those who want to see the area without taking  a few days to cover the entire High Divide/Seven Lakes Basin loop. From the Sol Duc trailhead to Appleton Pass and Oyster Lake it's 15.4 miles and 3,230 feet of elevation gain.

Scramble Mount Carrie (6,995 ft) and/or Cat Peak (5,940 ft), two of the first peaks in the Bailey Range, as part of your trip. The even more adveturous may climb from Mount Carrie to Mount Fairchild.
