Windy Ridge Lookout
The trail starts with a series of wooden steps north up the side of Windy Ridge. At this point you have a view down into the crater of Mount St. Helens. Continuing along the Truman trail on ridges above and with good views of Spirit Lake.

- At about 1 mile, you will reach a steep, narrow, exposed section of the trail. It might not be appropriate for children or people with concerns about heights.
- To extend the Mount St Helens experience, consider combining this hike with Ghost Lake (5.2 miles 640 feet), Strawberry Mountain Lookout (4.8 miles 1,400 feet), and/or Harmony Falls (2.4 miles, 650 feet), the only trail to the shoreline of Spirit Lake.
