Alpine Scramble - Little Si/Meditation Rock

Evening scramble of Little Si/Meditation Rock

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail conditions are excellent. Scramble had some sections of very dry brush. Additionally, bees and/or yellow jackets are present above the open book

We met at 1715 at the trailhead for our pre trip briefing. Students led the way up to the climbing areas, then an assistant leader or leader led the rest of the way to the top. We opted to take the diagonal slabs instead of the brush to get to the open book. The step at the open book has been knocked away, so the move is closer to 5.4 to climb rather than 4th class.

There are bees and/or yellowjackets present on the trail above the open book. Be sure to move quickly through this area and have first aid gear at the ready in case someone gets stung.

The rest of the scramble went well. As we topped out of the final moves onto medication rock it started to rain. We descended in a slight drizzle with thunder in the background. Ascent time 1:30, descent time 1:10
