Alpine Scramble - Mount Townsend

Spring snow scramble of Mt Townsend

  • Snow free for almost the entire trail to the summit.

This was supposed to be a snow scramble but, despite the heavy snow fall this winter, we only encountered snow from 5500' to 6,000' and was able to follow  a well beaten path in the snow over most of this section.  Otherwise it was a hike on a very good trail.   

The views were fantastic and we did tag North Mt Townsend as well.  

Round trip time 5 hours (it was a fast group).
