Alpine Scramble - Not Hinkhouse Peak

Nice loop on a nice day with great views; lots of mountain goats near Ingalls Pass.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • There were patches of snow here and there; the only one that was somewhat steep was easily bypassed, so we never used our ice axes.

We hiked to Ingalls Pass, climbed the peak from there and then descended to Long's Pass.  There were quite a few mountain goats near Ingalls Pass, including a few kids.  We took a conservative route to the top, staying below the ridge most of the way.  There were plenty of people on the trails, but we didn't encounter anyone on the off-trail part of the trip.  Views extended from Glacier Peak down to Mt. Adams, and were of course dominated by Mt. Stuart.
