Alpine Scramble - Sam Hill Peak

Our party of 4 departed from the Nordic Ski Center where we parked outside the gate. Snowed on us lightly throughout most of the day. Hard crust made for easy travel up to Lanham Lake however snow softened higher up requiring our share of kicking steps up above.  Given the weather, we were mindful of avy conditions developing, but actual snow accumulation was relatively light and wind displacement not a factor on our route.  Summited on a windy ridge around 12:30 and then beat a hasty retreat. No lounging around up high this day.     

Snowshoes all day. Took crampons but did not use.  Would likely be needed on  steep slopes had there been firm snow conditions above.
