Trail is in great shape. There is running water at a seasonal spring between Hope Lake & Trap Pass. We were a bit unlucky with weather & encountered a thin layer of snow/ice on the climber's trail beyond Trap Pass - this should melt out on the next warm/sunny day.
We knew weather was iffy going into our trip. Our group set off with the expectation that we would turn around if conditions were too cold/wet to be enjoyable. We had a lovely hike along the PCT. Fall colors are in full effect and we got to see some wildlife & all kinds of mushrooms. Views of Trapp Lake were outstanding.
Once we turned off the PCT on the climber's trail to Slippery Slab Tower, we encountered a thin layer of snow/ice and cold/windy conditions. We hiked out to the boulder field below Slippery Slab Tower and made the call to turn around there due to the cold & ice.
Our group was in good spirits and enjoyed the day out in the mountains despite not being able to complete the climb.
