CHS 2 Hike - Surprise Mountain

Great day of hiking up to Surprise Mountain. 15 miles and approx. 4.000 elevation. Passed Surprise Lake and an avalanche field of downed trees (slowed us down a little)! Passed Glacier Lake and made our way to Surprise Gap. Made it to Surprise Mountain and had a nice lunch while looking over the mountain tops (Mt Daniel, Mt Hinman and Glacier Peak to name a few) and enjoying the amazing views. Temps were good and air quality was great. Thank you Rita and Sara! 😅

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • At the beginning of Surprise Lake there is a debris field from an avalanche over the winter. We were able to navigate as we climbed over and crawled under downed trees.
