Climbing Conditioner - Mailbox Peak

A wet conditioning climb on the old trail. A few inches of snow on the top to make it all worthwhile.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The old trail is well worn.  It was pouring rain so we were hiking in muddy and slippery conditions.  There was snow on the ground on the rockpile and it got deeper as we continued up.  Guessing 6-8" of snow at the mailbox - used spikes to ease the descent through the rockpile.

An early morning conditioning hike to get us ready for the Everett Branch Banquet.  7 AM start with headlamps.  Up the old trail in the rain (It builds character).  Continued up the somewhat slippery rockpile and into fresh snow at the top.

Began snowing rather hard during our brief stop at the mailbox.  Headed down the same way we went up.

A good conditioning hike that really tested our rain gear.
