A few minor stream crossings the one at Slate creek is the trickiest, logs have been moved into place to get across with dry feet. Debris came down the creek this winter taking out the bridge leaving the bridge an a large volume of trees just down stream of the crossing. A few minor trees over the trail that are easy to get over.
14 mi R/T 6hr 45 min with several breaks along the way. We drove over the causeway at the North end of the lake Parking at the Copper Creek / Shady Lane TH. Hiked into the park on the Shady Lane Trail, a great option to hiking the road. Went up the Staircase rapids trail on the W side of the Skokomish river, enjoying views of the rapids along the way. Crossed over the suspension bridge continuing on the E side of the river. The miles went by easily on a gently graded trail to Big Log Camp.
