Trip Report

Day Hike - Cougar Mountain: Harvey Manning Trailhead

Hike through a local forest to a view.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trails were generally free of snow and ice in most areas. There were some muddy sections even though it appeared to be frozen solid (it wasn't).

We arrived at the trailhead around 8:00 AM. The parking lot was primarily empty except for us. When we arrive back at our cars closer to noon the parking lot was packed.

This hike was originally meant to start from the Sky Country Trailhead. One of the adjustments we made due to the COVID-19 outbreak was to start at the Harvey Manning Trailhead. Our hike started in the snow which appeared to have settled above 1000ft. The view from the Million Dollar View was great considering how clear it was out.

We then made our way around in a big loop through the northwest portion of the park. We also got a view of the Clay Pit which had patches of snow. The hike was quite pleasant and was a nice opportunity to get some fresh air.
