The snow had only recently melted leaving some sections of the trail very boggy. Waterproof boots are needed to avoid the temptation of widening the trail through sensitive meadows.
Tacoma CHS group made the nine mile trip in five hours which left plenty of time to take pictures and enjoy the views. The wildflowers were starting to bloom and should be at their peak in one to two weeks. The bugs are bad so netting or bug spray was needed anytime the group stopped.
