Trip Report

Day Hike - Granite Creek Trail

A lovely close-in hike with way less people than nearby Mailbox. 2 of us did not change our boots for the stream crossings, 1 of us put on his water shoes.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Minimal snow, no need for microspikes. Trail gets a little "braided" just before lake.

As noted above, even on a sunny day, pretty empty, esp. compared to Mailbox. Of course, weekends may be different. (I only rated it "4" below, just because I like more elevation gain and summit views. But it really is lovely, the woods and the lake. If you go, you may rate it a 5).

We spoke with a woman coming from Thompson Lake. She didn't reach the lake due to snow the last mile. Microspikes and poles probably still a good idea for Thompson. PXL_20210601_192343733.jpg
