Trip Report

Day Hike - Greenwater & Echo Lakes

Pleasant fall day for a hike through a river valley. We had the lakes to ourselves.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail is mostly in good shape. Mud can be expected in November. Some of the trail is eroded in the last mile to the lake, take care there. The bridges have been rebuilt and are in great condition!

The road is paved all the way! We were the only cars in the parking lot both coming in and leaving. We had some blue skies and a little mixed rain/snow for a short time after lunch. The forest and river are beautiful and the lakes are still. We saw American dippers,Varied thrush and Douglas squirrels. It was pretty quiet with just a little snow on the ground. The hills surrounding Echo Lake were snow covered.

We had a good day.
