Trip Report

Day Hike - Ira Spring Trail

We enjoyed dinner in the woods on a lightly raining evening.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail is in excellent shape.

We enjoyed good camaraderie and good exercise, so I marked the trip as successful even though we did turn around short of the memorial. We had dinner just before the talus field, no sense crossing slippery rock when the view we wanted was obscure. Light rain turned to heavy as we left the trail. My main concern was that the weather meant it would get dark sooner than actual dusk and I wanted us off the forest service road before dark. The road is in good condition for a dirt road. Right now bear grass, columbine and bunch berry are blooming.
