The trail was in great condition, and the falls were full! Spring is a great time to go to get the full effect of the falls. We arrived at 9:20 to the parking lot and took the last two legal spots. It actually looked like there were 3 legal spots, but as we left we saw a car parked in the third spot was tagged for towing. Park as close to the gate as possible.
A great group of hikers with varied levels of experience. Everyone was fun to be around and had different bits of knowledge to share - the best part about hiking with a new group! We learned about some of the flora from a hiker who brought a pocket guide, and everyone helped each other out with footwear questions, poles, etc... The falls were very dramatic and beautiful.
We kept the party size to a maximum of 8 because even 2 cars is a burden on the small lot. We met at the little known but excellent North Bend Park & Ride to consolidate cars so that we could all fit in 2. A group of 12 would probably have been too large for this trail.
Overall it was a fun day and I hope to get to hike with some of the same folks again!
