Trip Report

Day Hike - Knox Creek—Thorp Mountain

July flowers were blooming. Windy and a bit cold at the look out

  • Road recommended for high clearance only
  • This route is one of the shortest one to the lookout.  Only a small section of the route where there is not a view. Best to do this hike when the wild flowers are blooming.

Road was really bad. Slow driving to the trail head and parking is limited. No permit necessary to park, no out house either at the trail head. We took a leisurely walk up and took lots of flower pictures. The lookout was locked when we were there and it was a bit windy and cold. Some of us took shelter from the wind at the accessible deck  to eat lunch, and some enjoyed lake Kachess view while eating lunch. After lunch we head back down and were back by the car by 3:00 PM. Unfortunately there was a roll over truck on I90 and the traffic came to a crawl on the way back to Seattle.
