Trip Report

Day Hike - Poo Poo Point

Pleasant hike in a quieter route to Poo Poo Point.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail was in very good shape and well marked as usual. No snow or ice, but wet and muddy in some sections.

The best parking spot and starting point to this trail is not at the standard trailhead but instead on the Issaquah High School parking lot: plenty of space for anyone to park and no permits required.

From the parking lot, we hiked at a moderate pace through the beautiful forest with lots of tall trees and little creeks to appreciate. Other than the usual mud, there were no hazards throughout. At the top, with our lunch in hands, we could appreciate the view of downtown Issaquah illuminated by the sun while the rest of the valley had to endure cloudy skies -- there's nothing to complain about a warmer and dry December day in the PNW, cloudy or not :). At a conversational pace out and back, it took us 2 hours up and 1:45 down to get back to our cars.

There were a few other parties on the trail, but nothing compared to the Chirico trail to Poo Poo Point. In summary, a very pleasant day out with great people!
