Day Hike - South Coldwater Ridge

We were fascinated by the twisted hulks of logging machinery left behind when the mountain blew. Were glad we brought extra water as we hiked through much open area. Some of us swam and waded in Coldwater Lake and found it not that cold in early September.

9.7 miles and a moderate hike.

We were there the day after Labor Day.  The parking lot is large yet we found only a couple of cars besides our own.  Great dock at the boat ramp and excellent bathroom facilities.

The trail is well maintained.  No problem walking across  rocks in small streams.

There are a couple beaches that can be used for breaks and we found the water surprisingly warm.  One beach in particular had nice sand to walk on.

Bring extra water since much of the hike is  in the open.  IMG_1473.JPG
