Day Hike - Squak Mountain: May Valley Access

Not much for views, except the forest, but a great local short and moderately intense hike. Trail is easy to follow and in good shape. Signage in place and easy to follow.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trailhead is right in the paved parking lot, which has a pit toilet and ample parking.

Trail was in good shape, well marked, and easy to follow.  All fallen trees from the bomb cyclone have been cut and cleared except one large one near the beginning, but there is an easy trail around it.  This is a "dog-on-leash" trail but a notorious location for people letting their dogs run free, so if that's a trigger for you: be on your guard.  Most dogs that you hear and see will not be leashed.
