Trip Report

Day Hike - Talapus & Olallie Lakes

Perfect evening for a hike to two alpine lakes.

  • Road rough but passable
  • The trail is in good shape, very nice surface for hiking. There is a long rooty section that requires care not to trip. All snow is gone.

Several major potholes have been filled in the road. More work is scheduled over the summer, the road should be in great shape by fall. There were two different groups of young people at the lake for a swim, otherwise not crowded. Lots of bugs though.

The evening was warm and the sky was clear, so very pleasant to be out. I think this trail is worth the drive on a forest service road. The forest is very pretty and the lakes are beautiful. It is a good alpine experience close to home. Now blooming: Bunchberry, Candy stick, western coralroot and more.
