All the trails are in great condition. It's really dry up there though, and not much in the way of autumn colors. All the summer growth is past its prime. But - the weather could not have been better! No wind, not hot, not cold, just totally perfect.
The Sunrise Visitor Center lot was close to half full when I arrived at 7:15, and quite a few people were already on the trail, with several parties even heading back to the lot already. I wanted an early start since the Sunrise Road was scheduled to close on the 11th, and I anticipated a big crowd. We started our hike a few minutes past 8:00 along the Sourdough Trail and continued past 1st, 2nd, and ultimately 3rd Burroughs. Stunning views the whole way captured our attention! It was especially exciting for the folks who had not been there before.

We took the Burroughs Loop trail past Shadow Lake back to Sunrise for a different experience and views. It was a nice change, not many other hikers. The forested stretch was pleasant and relaxing. All in all, a wonderful day out with fellow adventurers!
