The trail has been damaged by recent rains. A portion of the Whittaker trail is closed for repair through 10/8.
The trailhead parking lot is being used as a commuter park and ride lot. This makes it tough for hikers to park. There was broken glass from an apparent break-in.
We did enjoy our hike. Due to a trail closure, we did not hike the loop as planned. We instead took the Gombu trail as far as the junction with the Shy Bear trail and then came back for dinner at the peak.
