Trip Report

Flatwater Packraft - Sammamish River

From Brackett's Landing in Bothell to Log Boom Park in Kenmore, with a side trip up Swamp Creek and a stop in the new Kenmore Paddle Park. We were rewarded with many bird sitings and several seaplane crossings.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

A quiet time of year on the Sammamish. We only encountered one other boater, in a canoe. The birdlife was plentiful. Mallard ducks, Great Blue Heron, Common Mergansers, and Loon. We also spotted a Green Heron, a Killdeer, and a Bluejay.  The Kenmore Paddle Park is newly opened so we explored it on foot and by boat. We made a side trip up Swamp Creek until a creekwide wood blockage about 1/4 mile up.  Several seaplanes took off in front of us once we got in front of Kenmore Airport.  Our route was 5.8 river miles, in a little over 3 hours at a very relaxed pace.
