Trip Report

GoHike - Alumni Day Hike - Carkeek Park

This hike was to incorporate the watching of the Chum Salmon. It did not disappoint!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • A few muddy areas, especially along the streams/river.  Stairs can be slippery due to the rain.  Gravel and soft tread.

This hike was to view the Chum Salmon running piper's creek.   We saw so many salmon.  We had great weather for a day that was supposed to rain.  Easy 5 mile hike in a very lovely park in northwest Seattle.  Spoke with the Carkeek Park Salmon Stewards.  They run a great program!

Carkeek Park Salmon Stewards are a community of local volunteers trained to welcome, engage, educate, and inspire park visitors drawn by the annual Piper's Creek salmon run. They can be found in Carkeek Park on weekends 11am - 2pm, early Nov - early Dec.  Annual event.
