Another beautiful day out before the storm!

The final mile to the trailhead is unpaved with several potholes that are easily passed with caution. The trail (left from the loop junction) is in good condition. Snow gradually began a few hundred feet above there with a few icy stretches. It increased up to about three feet along the last couple hundred feet, but snowshoes were not needed. Stay in previous tracks to minimize post-holing. Micro-spikes and poles were helpful.
A gorgeous day for this trip with fellow mountain loving friends! No precip and temps slightly above freezing for our morning start. We had a nice summit lunch in the sun with no wind to speak of. Temperatures rose on our descent to the point where gloves were no longer needed, and morning's icicles were dripping. We grabbed a great window because the coming rain forecast will surely turn yesterday's beautiful snow into mush.
