  • We had an unexpected snowstorm last night. About .75 miles below Horse Camp, we ran into accumulated snow and slush on the trail. When we got to Horse Camp, there was 1.5 feet of snow on the trail, and melting snow was flinging "snow bombs" onto us. The group was pretty well soaked, and we didn't have helmets (none of us thought we'd encounter snow bombs), so we made the decision to turn around.

If it stays warm and sunny this week, the snow should melt. Had we not had snow bombs, we probably could have made the top.

We had microspikes. Could have used snowshoes and helmets.
