Steep snow with bad runout after Tatoosh Lakes turnoff. Waterfalls under sketchy, partially melted out snow fingers.
If you’re looking for a hike, you’ve got a relentlessly steep climb for about 2k feet. If you’re looking for crossing steep snow using an ice axe, continue further. If you’re looking for spicy scrambling and a steep snowfield traverse with terrible runout (that may require a belay and a second ice tool), you may make it to the top. We turned around at a dive waterfall crossing that would involve high-daggering up a melting out snow finger and climbed Peak 6050 from the backside via snow and heather benches to the top. Will try again late Fall, maybe, or from the Southern TH. Views were amazing and all the avalanche lilies are bursting with color.
