Winter Scramble - 5,050 Pass from Dosewallips

Above the clouds, great views. Olympics displaying its winter coat.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Small debris slide on road 2 mi before TH. Covering 1/2 road, currently passable. Bank looks stabil. Watch that first pothole on the Left just as the pavement ends

3 of us got to enjoy a spectacular day in the Olympics.  Hit snow at 4000'  snowshoes on at 4500' breaking trail w/ 8" of penetration on crusty snow, fairly good base breaking thru in some place. Solid 4' of snow above 4500'  Microspikes before that. left cars at 7:30 on the summit( point 5345) at noon. Lesurely lunch soaking in the views. Back to the cars by 3:30 Inversion setting in 53' on summit, 35' at 3000' Freezing level forecast to shoot up to 10000 by Sat.
