Scotty Creek Road is pretty well iced over. We parked at a pulloff before the bridge at the intersection of Scotty Creek Road and Shaser Creek Road.
Our group of six left a rainy Sunday morning behind by heading east. We hiked up snowy Shaser Creek road to 3200 feet and then scrambled northwest up easy, open slopes.
We found a thin layer of snow in shady places and along the ridge, but most of the route faces south and is snow free.
We enjoyed the t-shirt weather for a bit and had to laugh at bringing snowshoes and ice axes. Under five hours round-trip. 6.4 miles, 2,100 gain.
