10 Essentials: Questions

How did you get involved with The Mountaineers?

When I was a younger tyro, I wanted to climb Rainier with a few friends. They recommended I take the basic course to get crevasse rescue skillz. It's been a fun journey of learning and new friends ever since.

What motivates you to get outside with us?

The freedom of cutting your own path to the top and the new techniques learned from new climbing partners.

What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?

All the skinny dipping! Seriously. It's my jam. Baker Lake is a must whenever I'm over there. Can I do two? Sweet. Another favorite is singing Disney tunes coming off Shuksan. That group could carry a tune!

Who/What inspires you?

Rad people mitigating risk, acknowledging their fears, and making magic happen. You guys and gals rule!

What does adventure mean to you?

See a sweet line? Ski or climb it! See something beautiful? Stop and enjoy the moment! Adventure is the freedom to be random and in some cases, embracing the suck. It's getting out there and enjoying the journey.

Lightning Round
Sunrise or sunset? Sunrise
Smile or game face? Game smile? It's mischievous, but serious
What's your 11th essential?  Gummi bears! Haribo only. Black Forest? Just say no.
Post-adventure meal of choice? Hamburgers, curly fries, and a strawberry shake. Insert fries into shake, eat, rinse and repeat.
If you could be a rockstar at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be? Skydiving!
