How did you get involved with The Mountaineers?
I was inspired to join after a group of Mountaineers helped rescue me after breaking my ankle in a climbing accident. I was attracted to the camaraderie that I witnessed among the group. About a month after my injury, I signed up for Basic.
What motivates you to get outside with us?
The Mountaineers has connected me with some wonderful climbing partners, who have become good friends. I continue to be inspired by the community and look forward to more adventures to come.
What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?
Two of my Basic SIG leaders, Loni Uchytil and Albert Summerfield, climbed the Stawamus Chief with me last summer. We climbed it via Over the Rainbow, Boomstick Crack, and the Ultimate Everything, making it a 17-pitch day. It was such an incredible and memorable experience to climb a beautiful feature with friends.
Who/What inspires you?
Looking through alpine guides or trip reports is one of my favorite sources of inspiration.
What does adventure mean to you?
Adventure means to explore something unfamiliar or unknown. It can be scary and unpredictable, but there will probably be an incredible view and an awesome story to tell friends.
Lightning Round
What's your happy place? Multi-pitch climbs in the alpine.
