10 Essentials: Questions
How did you get involved with The Mountaineers?
I heard stories from friends who took the Basic Alpine Climbing class and decided, along with my husband, that life was too short not to just go for it!
What motivates you to get outside with us?
The experience of it all: the hike in, the summit, the snacks, the views, and the security of being with people who know what they’re doing.
What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?
One of my favorite climbs was Eldorado Peak on a beautiful, clear day in early July. It felt like our group of 10 had the mountain to ourselves, seeing only one other group close to the summit. We were surrounded by beautiful views of the Northern Cascades and passed close by incredible, deep crevasses. That ascent, along with the short, spicy summit ridge embodied my true expectations of an alpine experience.
Who/What inspires you?
I feel very lucky to have been paired with an awesome, adventurous Basic Alpine Climbing SIG group. That group of friends supports me in my outdoor goals and creates a healthy amount of F.O.M.O. (fear of missing out) that drives me to climb more and more!
What does adventure mean to you?
My definition of adventure is to go somewhere not everyone ventures, to need special skills to get there, or to struggle in the journey.
Lightning Round
What's your happy place? The beginning of a descent, excellent view and feels better on the legs.
If you could be a rock star at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be? Rock climbing.
