I am blown away by the generosity of our community.
The funds we raise in November and December help to bolster our strategic goals and set the pace for the new year. Hitting the mark by December 31 is vital for us to understand and plan for the seasons ahead.
We set an ambitious end-of-year goal of $150,000 in the hopes that you would be inspired to support us… and I am delighted to report back that you exceeded that goal by more than 40%!
By the time we rang in the new year, 415 members and volunteers donated more than $215,000 in support of our outdoor community. I’m especially grateful for the 19 members who joined Peak Society for the first time by offering a gift of at least $1,000, unlocking the full $19,000 in matching funds toward our year-end goal.
In total, we hope to raise $1,569,000 from charitable donations this year as we continue to recover from setbacks suffered during the pandemic and lean into our world-class programming and publishing. Thanks to you, we are kicking off 2022 on strong footing.
Why it matters
When you give back to our community, you support the mission at the very core of The Mountaineers. You fund our Volunteer Leadership Development series, which helps grow the skills of more than 3,000 volunteers. You cover need-based scholarships for more than 140 youth and adults to participate in our courses and camps. You fuel our conservation and advocacy efforts to protect public lands and reduce our carbon footprint. You introduce readers and conservationists around the world to the safe and responsible enjoyment of lands and waters through Mountaineers Books. And you invest in the aspirations of new adventurers who will join us in enjoying and protecting our favorite places.
Thank you to everyone who so generously donates their time, talents, and treasure in support of our community. I’m excited about what’s to come for The Mountaineers in 2022, and I’m grateful that you’re along for the adventure.
