Are you an experienced Mountaineers activity leader who dreams of taking Mountaineers companions on multi-day adventures in far-flung places around North America and the wider world? Global Adventures leaders have taken groups skiing, snowshoeing, climbing, scrambling, backpacking, trekking, and day-walking in the desert Southwest, Alaska, the Rockies, the Alps, Patagonia, Peru, the Himalayas, the British Isles, New Zealand, Turkey, Jordan, the Amalfi Coast, and more. The Global Adventures program may be the perfect place for you to live your travel dreams and take your trip planning and group leadership skills to a new level!
what's involved in being A global ADventures LEADER?
In addition to the normal responsibilities and technical skills required for leaders of any Mountaineers activity, Global Adventures leaders are also travel planners, accountants, facilitators, cheerleaders, and trouble-shooters. Leaders handle the special complexities of multi-day travel far from home with a diverse group who may not know each other.
The leaders of Global Adventures trips organize multi-day itineraries and all or most of the logistics for those itineraries (transport, lodgings, services, food) in advance. Participants pay an up-front trip price to cover the program, and the leader accompanies the group to oversee the safety and delivery of the program.
To become a Global Adventures leader, you must be an active Mountaineers leader for one of our activity committees, be up-to-date on all activity leading requirements, and have experience in multi-day trip planning and logistics through trips with family, friends, or outside organizations.
