On Monday, January 9, The Mountaineers will be hosting a Pop-Up Donor Center with Bloodworks Northwest at the Seattle Program Center from 9am-3pm.
All donations at this Pop-Up Donor Center and our other Donor Centers are by appointment only to provide the safest donation environment and adhere to all social distancing guidelines. Additionally, no walk-ins, guests, or people under age 16 are permitted onsite. Masks or face covering are required by all donors and staff. Your one-hour donation appointment is a safe and essential action to support local hospitals.
- Bloodworks is an independent, community-based nonprofit organization that has been serving the Northwest for more than 70 years.
- Bloodworks is the sole provider for more than 90 Northwest hospitals, which includes UW Medical, Seattle Children’s, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Overlake, and many more!
- Each whole blood donation is divided into three blood components (red cells, platelets and plasma) which can help 3 different patients
- Those who are at least 16 years of age are allowed to donate, no upper age limit.
- First time donors who are 16 or 17 years old are required to have a Blood Center permission form signed by a parent or guardian.
- You don’t need to know what your blood type is in advance to donate. In fact, you could give us a call 48 hours after your donation and we could let you know your blood type.
- The whole donation process (i.e. registration, filling out questionnaire, screening, blood draw and enjoying some refreshments) from start to finish takes about 45-60 minutes.
- Nearly 900 people must donate blood through Bloodworks Northwest every day to meet the needs of local patients.
