The Crag climbing course, led by the amazing Loni Uchityl, kicked off this weekend at The Mountaineers Seattle Program Center! The weekend focused on building climbing, multipitch, anchor building, and rappelling skills.
Loni and her amazing group of volunteers teach around 30 students the basics of traditional climbing. By the end of the course the students will have led a long multipitch in Leavenworth, and will be ready to go out and climb trad! This weekend focused on the fundamentals of trad climbing; anchor building, crack climbing technique, and multipitching.
By the end of the weekend, the students left prepared to tackle the strenuous cracks of Tieton, some are even ready to mock lead. This is a pretty impressive crew of students, many of who are already showing up some of the instructors! It's going to be another great season out on the rock, and we look forward to another class of crag!
