Volunteers are the lifeblood of Mountaineers programs, and this month we want to give a big shout-out to a volunteer who has jumped in with both feet to provide fantastic energy and great help with the startup of our Trail Running Committee!
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST?
I've always lived in the PNW. I grew up in Victoria BC and moved to the Seattle area 5 years ago. My husband got a job at Microsoft, so I figured I should look for work and follow him! I love the mountains, the ocean, and the weather here.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE MOUNTAINEERS?
I joined The Mountaineers in 2017. I was searching for an outdoors community to find fellow backcountry skiers, and I luckily stumbled upon The Mountaineers. I was immediately drawn in by the amazing people I met. The community's enthusiasm is contagious.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT VOLUNTEERING FOR THE MOUNTAINEERS?
It's quite simple really - I love sharing my passion for the outdoors with others. I really enjoyed putting together the first trail running course with Gabrielle Orsi. Learning from a mentor while also teaching others new skills is very rewarding.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER FOR FOOTHILLS?
There is a home for you on our Foothills team if you’d like to volunteer to help run a course, teach a skill, plan events, lead activities, or contribute any special skill you have. Learn more about our Foothills committees and contact a committee chair or your branch chair Cheryl Talbert if you’d like to volunteer with us!
