At The Mountaineers, the impact of receiving a scholarship runs deeper than the outdoor skills gained through courses and activities. Scholarships empower members of all ages to grow their support networks, discover new passions that spark joy during challenging times, and reinvest in our outdoor community through meaningful volunteer opportunities.
“In late 2020 I lost my job due to Covid, and would not have been able to renew my membership without a scholarship. Mountaineers activities such as working towards leading xc-ski trips and online leadership classes were an encouraging and productive use of time during my unemployment.
Thank you for giving generously to make scholarships a possibility when people need them. I am so grateful to have had the outlet of outdoor recreation and leadership during a very challenging season of life.”

In another year mired by pandemic hardships, the urgency for scholarships to support our community continues to grow. Requests for financial help pour in from every branch of The Mountaineers, and we endeavor to award financial assistance to all members in need.
We believe the outdoors is for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay for courses and programs. Donors help us make this belief a reality.
Last #GivingTuesday, Mountaineers members helped us raise $20,000 to directly support scholarships and expand access to outdoor education and the benefits that time outside provides. This year, we are asking you to help us once again raise $20,000 on this global day of giving, taking place on Tuesday, November 30.
There’s no need to wait until #GivingTuesday to make a difference. If you’re ready to lend your support now, you can make a scholarship gift today. All early donations will count toward our $20,000 goal and strengthen our community in the year ahead.

First-Time Peak Society DONOR Matching
While we will celebrate #GivingTuesday on November 30, this global day of giving also formally kicks off our year-end giving efforts.
New this year! First time Peak Society donors have the opportunity to double the impact of their gift by making a personal contribution of $1,000 or more. When you elect to join the Peak Society with a first-time gift at this level, you will see your gift 100% matched by a generous pool of donors, up to $19,000. All gifts of $1,000 or more from new Peak Society donors received from November 15 through December 31, 2021 are eligible. Contact Amber Carrigan with questions.
