We had an ambitious goal and you smashed it!
We needed to raise $30,000 for the Mountaineers Access Program to kick off our season of giving. Several members chose to pool their gifts to create a matching challenge of $10,000 to double donations received last Monday and Tuesday. Our community stepped up throughout the day with gifts ranging from $5 to $5,000!
Late on Tuesday night we met the match and then officially hit our overall goal on Wednesday morning. Donations continued to trickle in throughout the week and in the end, 74 people donated more than $32,000 to support outdoor access!
Once again, Mountaineers like you have invested in a strong outdoor community where everyone can find belonging. By meeting our Giving Tuesday goal, we are off to a strong start toward our year-end goal of $200,000.
This impact will be felt by hundreds of people in 2024. The Mountaineers Access Program helps kids attend summer camp and other school-year programming. It helps adults of all backgrounds find their way outdoors and plug into a supportive community. It helps people access first aid training, making our whole community safer. And it helps under-resourced youth have meaningful and memorable outdoor experiences through subsidized youth partner programs.
Our community thrives at the intersection of outdoor access, education, and conservation. We create spaces where people can connect with the outdoors and with each other. We build a culture of mutual learning and servant leadership. And we combine our voices and efforts to protect the outdoor experience for future generations.
Thank you for all you do to support a healthy and inclusive outdoor community. No matter who you are, where you live, or what you give, it all makes a difference for the people and places we care about.
Did you miss Giving Tuesday? No problem! Your gift today will support an inclusive, volunteer-led outdoor community. Thanks to our success last week and other early giving, we are already 20% of the way toward our December goal, and the month has just begun! Hitting this mark is vital to accomplishing our strategic goals in 2024.
