Is it on your life-list to backpack the lovely, unique landscapes of the Patagonian Andes? The Mountaineers can take you there.
Walk high ridges among jagged peaks to the flanks of the massive Tronador volcano in the northern Andes of Argentina, with glaciers cascading from far above and a hundred blue lakes below (this area has been termed Argentina's Switzerland for its lovely alpine landscapes).
Descend on seldom-traveled trails to camp by picture-perfect glacial lakes surrounded by lush forests. Cruise by boat back to your starting point, or cross the Andes crest into Chile’s Lakes District on the famous Cruce Andino ferry to hike to high viewpoints on two more impressive volcanoes, Osorno and Calbuco, through ancient and unique Alerce forests, and up to a panoramic perch in the remote Cochamo valley, the ‘Yosemite of Chile’.
Lodging will be in refugios, lodges and backcountry camps; food will be provided. Carry your own camping gear, or hire a porter and carry just a daypack.
Come to this information session about a March 2016 Mountaineers backpacking adventure in northern Patagonia and find out why many consider this area their favorite in the entire region.
Before the presentation on the 2016 Patagonia backpack adventure, see a slideshow from an amazing Mountaineers backpacking adventure among the granite spires and unique wildlife of far-south Patagonia in February-March of 2015.
