We're excited to introduce Kick Step IPA, a bold and distinctly Northwest India Pale Ale by Ghostfish Brewing, benefiting The Mountaineers.
Both Ghostfish Brewing and The Mountaineers were founded on the idea of transcending limits—whether it’s delivering distinctive craft beer or offering life-changing experiences in the outdoors. A portion of the sales will support our efforts to provide opportunities to get people outside while working to protect public lands and the outdoor experience.
Our growing outdoor community of 12,000 dedicated to getting people outside to learn responsible recreation and protect the wild places of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Kick Step IPA mirrors this low-impact consciousness, brewed with a grain base of malted millet – one of the world’s most drought tolerant grains.
“In an alternate world where gluten intolerance doesn’t exist, we'd still recommend malted millet as a brewing grain,” says Ghostfish Co-Owner and Brewmaster Jason Yerger. "Aside from offering a wonderful array of deep and distinctive flavors, millet also requires significantly less water to cultivate than grains like wheat and barley, making it easier to grow and gentler on the planet!"
The beer’s label shows a climber executing a kick step — a mountaineering technique crucial for maintaining control and balance on steep, snowy ascents like on the glaciated peaks in our Pacific Northwest.
“As Mountaineers, we thrive on a spirit of wonder, a sense of adventure, and a commitment to the wild places of the Pacific Northwest," says Tom Vogl, CEO. "We’re thrilled to be working with Ghostfish on this project and are grateful for their support of our mission.”
"We are thrilled and honored to introduce our new partnership with The Mountaineers,” says Co-Owner and Director of Sales & Marketing Brian Thiel. “Ghostfish Brewing leads with an adventurous spirit to push the boundaries of beer and bring people together; a central theme that allowed The Mountaineers to become one of the leading and most influential outdoor recreation and conservation organizations in the country over the past 111 years.”
