10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH THE MOUNTAINEERS?
My girlfriend loved to backpack and hike. She invited me on a Mt. Rainer overnight trip. I borrowed all my gear and really loved it! It's hard to find people who want to go out and enjoy the outdoors so she and I both signed up for The Mountaineers. I quickly learned what I didn't know and met other people along the way. It's been great!
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO GET OUTSIDE WITH US?
I love all the options and new ideas that leaders come up with. I'm learning so many new places to hike and explore; some that I never knew about before are even in my backyard. I also enjoy the people I meet and community that The Mountaineers fosters.
What is your favorite Mountaineers memory?
When we went out to do our backpacking 'dry run' at Irish cabin, it started raining, then hailing, and finally snowing. We all froze our butts off until we were able to share a hot meal while learning to use our stoves. Some folks stayed, but I wasn't one of them. I was so grateful for the option to go home.
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am truly inspired by the generous and kind spirits of our leaders and the way they help and encourage everyone. Laura Linde is my role model should I ever become a leader.
WHAT DOES ADVENTURE MEAN TO YOU?
Trying new activities, traveling to new places, and meeting nice people along the way.
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Sunrise or sunset? Sunset
Smile or game face? Smile
What's your 11th Essential? An extra pillow and maybe, just maybe, an adult beverage... oh and my chair. Did I mention my extra pad?
Post-adventure meal of choice? Cold beer and a pizza
If you could be a rockstar at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be? Orienteering
