10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

WHAT FIRST BROUGHT YOU TO THE MOUNTAINEERS?

Growing up surrounded by mountains, they became my sanctuary, my safe haven, and my ultimate source of happiness. The untamed beauty and rugged landscapes of these majestic peaks have always felt like home to me. Drawn by my desire to learn mountaineering skills and immerse myself in the mountains, I heard about The Mountaineers through two friends. They had not only taken the Basic Alpine Climbing Course, but also couldn't stop raving about the warm and welcoming community that thrives within The Mountaineers.

WHY DO YOU LIKE GETTING OUTSIDE WITH US?

The Mountaineers offered me more than just a chance to acquire skills; it provided a sense of belonging, comradery, and the opportunity to contribute through volunteering. It felt like finding a place that fulfilled all my aspirations. Mountains have always held a special place in my heart, and now, as a member of The Mountaineers, I am living that dream surrounded by kindred spirits.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAINEERS MEMORY?

It's difficult to choose just one favorite memory, especially as someone new to The Mountaineers with limited experiences. However, one memory that stands out is our rock field trip during my Basic Alpine Climbing Course. As a novice climber, I was filled with more anxiety than excitement when faced with outdoor climbing for the first time. It was with the unwavering support of our SIG leaders Bill and Dave, along with our incredible volunteer instructors Ghayda and Nathan, that I felt confident to reach for the next handholds and footholds and complete my first outdoor climb.

Touching that rugged rock surface and navigating the climb, my initial apprehension gave way to a surge of empowerment and liberation. What made this memory truly extraordinary was the camaraderie and friendship that was formed within my SIG team. Laughter, encouragement, and a shared sense of accomplishment brought us closer together, transcending the boundaries of mere classmates.

This memory encapsulates the essence of why I love being a part of The Mountaineers. It's not just about conquering mountains; it's about the connections forged, the growth experienced, and the joy of pushing oneself beyond limits. The Mountaineers have become my outdoor family, and I'm immensely grateful for the incredible journey we're on together.
