Mountaineers Gave BIG: $24,666 for Outdoor Access and Conservation

During GiveBIG this week, people across the region gave more than $11.9 million to invest in the kind of community they believe in. Here at The Mountaineers, we believe in a world where anyone can access the outdoors and everyone has a role to play in conserving it for future generations. 

For GiveBIG 2023, a generous donor offered a match of $10,000 if one hundred Mountaineers made a gift of $25 or more. We knew our community was up for the challenge.

Before the giving event officially started, more than a dozen people chose to make early gifts, getting us off to a strong start on Tuesday morning toward our goal of 100 donors. By the start of the second day, we had reached our halfway point. Donations picked up throughout the afternoon and into the evening on Wednesday. And at 8:52pm, when the 100th person made their gift, another $10,000 silently blinked onto our screens. We did it!

Our momentum continued, and by the end of GiveBIG, 124 people gave more than $24,000 to support outdoor access and conservation.

GiveBIG traditionally kicks off our spring fundraising campaign. We’re hoping to raise $55,000 by the end of May as we gear up for a summer of community-based adventuring. The success of GiveBIG means that we’re almost halfway there! Donations of all sizes will support programs and books that make the natural world more accessible and conserve the outdoor experience for generations to come.
